According to John Paczkowski for All Things Digital, an individual with a spectacular track record for rumors, Apple will launch a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display alongside its iPad Mini at a special media event on October 23rd. Paczkowski backs the rumor that surfaced earlier this morning and all the way since June, when Apple launched the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display.
The machine, a 13-inch version of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display that debuted in June, will feature the same thin chassis, all-Flash storage and a 2,560 by 1,600 pixel density display comparable to the 2880 by 1800 display of its predecessor, sources say. No word yet on price, though it will obviously be a bit less than the $2,199 baseline price of the 15-incher.
Earlier today, it was reported that the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will be similar to the 15-inch model and available in two configurations, depending on the processor speed and storage capacity you are looking for. Apple will likely gear these smaller devices — the iPad Mini and new 13-inch MacBook Pro — to the education sector.
