October is lining up to be a busy month for Apple, if rumors are to be believed. And, given where they are coming from, this one is particularly believable: Mark Gurman of 9to5mac is saying that he’s heard from a “consistently reliable source” that Apple has a new retina MacBook Pro ready to be announced. This lines up with many previous reports, which speculated that Apple would move their Mac retina display to the 13″ Pro next, after debuting the 15″ retina model at WWDC earlier this year.
There will be two product lines, similar to what Apple has done with the 15″ Pro:
Like with the 15-inch MacBook Pro lines, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will be sold (at a higher price) in addition to the current non-Retina display model. That computer was updated with faster processers and USB 3.0 in June.
We’ve already heard (and had basically confirmed) that Apple’s next event will be on October 23rd, and that it’s likely that the iPad Mini will have at least a small focus on iBooks and the application of a smaller tablet in schools and other institutions. It seems that Apple will also be packing a Mac announcement in as well, and I’m personally expecting to hear more about iTunes 11, and any potential hidden features that might contain. The event should prove to be quite a busy one, especially for an October event, which are typically tight and focused on one product line.
