iPhone 5 pre-orders are now delayed by 3 – 4 weeks (Source: MacRumors)
Demand for the new iPhone 5 continues to exceed initial supply, pushing back pre-order shipping estimates on the new handset to 3 – 4 weeks in the United States, Canada and Australia. Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on Friday, September 14th at the stroke of midnight, receiving over two million pre-orders in just 24 hours after opening the program. U.S. carriers AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless are also accepting pre-orders on the iPhone 5 with similar delays on delivery estimates.
“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”
