T-Mobile Will Be “Selling Against the iPhone” Starting September 21st

As uncovered by TmoNews, an internal memo has been issued by T-Mobile that lists September 21st as the date that retail employees will receive information to be used towards “selling against the iPhone,” which is expected to be refreshed at a special media event next month.

There are three conclusions that can be drawn from the picture above: it appears that T-Mobile will not be a launch partner for the next-generation iPhone, the carrier will be selling against the iPhone as a result, and Friday, September 21st now appears even more likely to be the launch date of the next iPhone.

T-Mobile, which trails behind Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Sprint as the fourth-largest mobile provider in the United States, has yet to officially carry the iPhone since its debut over five years ago. The Deutsche Telekom subsidiary has suffered from the use of 3G networking bands that are incompatible with the iPhone, although the carrier’s 4G HSPA+ network is expected to be compatible with an expanded number of devices, including the iPhone, by the end of this year.
