AT&T Schedules Vacation Blackout For September 21 – 30 Ahead of Next-Gen iPhone Launch

With the next-generation iPhone expected to launch on Friday, September 21st, TechCrunch has learned that AT&T employees have been given a vacation blackout period of September 21st – 30th. Last week, Verizon Wireless also blocked its employees from taking vacation during the same ten day period, meaning that both carriers are preparing for an all-hands-on-deck policy in time for the latest iPhone launch.

AT&T was long the exclusive carrier of the iPhone, although Apple has since partnered with Verizon Wireless, Sprint and a number of regional carriers to carry the handset in the United States. The expanded availability of the iPhone online and in-store should help alleviate some of the long queues and supply shortages that are often associated with a new iPhone launch.
