Sprint’s LTE Network Unofficially Launches in San Francisco Bay Area

Sprint customers in San Francisco and surrounding areas such as Mountain View, Palo Alto and Cupertino, over the past 24 hours, noticed the ability to achieve 4G LTE speeds on their devices. Android Police was first to report on the news, claiming that one tipster in particular noticed download and upload speeds up to 13 Mbps and 8 Mbps respectively.

Sprint currently offers 4G LTE coverage in 15 markets, predominantly located in the Texas area. The U.S.’s third-largest mobile carrier plans to expand the high speed network to an additional four markets prior to Labor Day, while the official launch of Sprint’s 4G LTE network in San Francisco is expected to take place in November.
