Bladepad, a new Kickstarter project, transforms your iPhone into a miniature game console with dual analog joysticks, a directional pad, ABXY buttons, Start and Select buttons and L1, R1, L2, R2 buttons.
The detachable gamepad for iPhone 4S comes bundled with a protective case and uses low power Bluetooth 4.0, charging by Micro USB, thereby providing up to four hours of gameplay before the peripheral needs to be recharged.
The only catch is that the creators of Bladepad will have to work closely with developers to ensure that a number of App Store games are compatible with the gamepad. Moreover, the accessory does not work with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 or iPod touch since those devices lack the necessary Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Nevertheless, Bladepad is an interesting concept that can only become a reality if its Kickstarter project is funded. A $69 pledge secures your own Bladepad, while the retail price could be as high as $99.
