iCloud and iMessage Experienced Downtime Today

A number of users in the Apple community have been experiencing issues today with connecting to iCloud services such as Mail and, in some cases, sending iMessages. A few hours ago, Apple changed its system status page to reflect iCloud services being down for some users, noting that normal service will be restored as soon as possible.
