iOS Hacker Brings 3D Maps to iPhone 4

Apple introduced its brand new Maps application with 3D mapping and turn-by-turn navigation on Monday, but those new iOS 6 features are not supported on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or fourth-generation iPod touch.

That hasn’t stopped iOS hacker Anton Titkov from enabling 3D maps on his iPhone 4 running iOS 6 beta with the early developer jailbreak. The hack — called 3DEnabler — requires third-party installation, which becomes more complicated since the early iOS 6 jailbreak does not provide access to Cydia for installing jailbreak packages.

Nevertheless, Titkov has posted video demonstrations of his hack with detailed instructions available on the Russian website iGuides. The hacker has been tackling turn-by-turn navigation on iPhone 4, but has yet to have any success. Watch the videos just ahead.
