Virgin Mobile today has — as expected — announced the availability of the iPhone on its network as of June 29. The iPhone 4 will retail for $549 (8GB model) and the iPhone 4S will sell for $649 (16GB model), which is the same prices that Apple sells those unlocked iPhone models for. The iPhone qualifies for Virgin Mobile’s Beyond Talk prepaid plans, which start as low as $30 per month with 300 anytime minutes, unlimited text messaging and unlimited data.
“This month marks Virgin Mobile USA’s tenth birthday,” said Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. “And what better way to thank our fans for ten years of loyalty than by giving them exactly what they want: the perfect plan for the perfect phone. That is the essence of ‘A Higher Calling.’”
The $40 per month tier gets you 1200 anytime minutes, unlimited text messaging and unlimited data, while the top-level $50 per month plan includes unlimited anytime minutes, unlimited text messaging and unlimited data. Each plan can be cancelled at any time and Virgin Mobile does start throttling data speeds once 2.5GB has been exceeded on the month. Existing or new customers that are interested in learning more about the iPhone 4S on Virgin Mobile can sign up to receive updates.
