After a good deal of well-deserved criticism on their new iPad’s “4G” advertising claims, Apple today changed their labeling of the data connection service to simply read “cellular” on most of their websites internationally. This is not to say that the device no longer supports 4G, but rather that it just isn’t being advertised in such a way as to avoid confusion more naive customers may encounter. The changes have been reflected on most of the world’s major countries’ websites, but things should roll out everywhere soon.
It’s been nearly two months since the new tablet released and countries like Australia almost immediately began complaining that none of their carriers supported the 4G LTE connection, saying that this was false advertising. That makes sense seeing as there are only five carriers that support the new technology and they are all based in North America.
