The iPhone Dev-Team has rolled out an update to redsn0w, bringing the popular jailbreaking tool to version 0.9.10b7 for Mac OS X and Windows. The update implements the Corona jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 on A5-powered devices into the tool, and now re-installs that jailbreak for those who accidentally uninstalled the untethered version.
Additionally, redsn0w can now grab your SHSH blobs directly from Cydia when stitching an IPSW file. Moreover, redsn0w 0.9.10b7 provides more detailed information about device, including whether your iPhone 3GS has an old exploitable bootrom. The iPhone Dev-Team notes that it will also implement a restore feature right into redsn0w, alleviating the need to use iTunes for that action.
Those with an iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or new iPad running iOS 5.1 will still have to wait for a jailbreak to be released, as this latest version of redsn0w does not address that issue. Additionally, older devices running iOS 5.1 remain limited to a tethered jailbreak until an untethered version is released.
[iPhone Dev-Team] Thanks, Jailbr0k!
