I sure am. And with the majority of RSS apps on the App Store only JUST jumping on the “Import from Google Reader” bandwagon, I didn’t hold out much hope for a decent, non-cluttered RSS reader coming anytime soon.
The iPad’s been out for 2 months, and I only got mine a week ago (living in the UK) – The two apps I’ve been using are Pulse News Reader and The Early Edition – Both pretty good readers (especially since Pulse v1.1 has been featured on Gizmodo, the sales in the UK store have gone through the roof)
However, they lack a lot of features. They’ve only JUST added the feature to import from Google Reader; before, you had to manually add all of your feeds, and I have a lot. So I’m thankful for this feature. But that’s not enough – They’re still incredibly cluttered and laggy. It hurts your eyes to read , and it shouldn’t, because the iPad’s screen is massive.
So I consulted Twitter, asking them what they’re using, and a friend replied with “Nothing.” This surprised me, because he’s a developer who’s MAKING an RSS reader for Mac! Chatted to him on Skype, and he told me about “Reeder” – an iPad RSS reader (developed by Silvio Rizzi) not yet on the App Store.
It’s already an iPhone app, and has some excellent reviews on the UK App Store:
and a quick Google search brought me to MacStories.net’s preemptive review of Reeder for iPad, with a large number of screenshots – And it looks AMAZING. The developed (on his Twitter) has stated that it’s going to be $4.99 on release and you can have a look at some of the images of it below.
Do you know any understated RSS readers for iPad on the App Store? Or any coming soon? Feel free to mention them in the comments!
