Apple to Release Flashback Malware Removal Tool

Last week, we told you that more than 600,000 Macs have fell victim to “Flashback,” a trojan virus that targets a Java vulnerability within Mac OS X. Subsequently, Apple released a security patch — and then another — to fix the problem, but hundreds of thousands of Macs are believed to still be infected.

Fortunately, The Loop reports on a new page on Apple’s website that indicates that the Cupertino-based company is developing software that will detect and remove the Flashback malware. There is no ETA for this Flashback removal tool yet, but we’re sure that it will be released in the near future on Apple’s support pages and possibly directly through Software Update for Macs.
