Five Men Charged for Injuring Teen Who Sold His Kidney for an iPhone, iPad

Remember the Chinese teenager that sold one of his kidneys so that he could buy an iPad and iPhone? Well, unfortunately, it appears that the 17-year-old male is now suffering from renal deficiency. As a result, it has been reported that the five men involved in the kidney removal have been charged with intentional injury.

According to the report, the surgeon received about 220,000 yuan (about $35,000) to perform the operation, and gave Wang, as the boy is named, about 22,000 yuan (about $3,500) of that money and split the rest with his other associates and medical staff. Wang is said to reside in Anhui, one of the poorest provinces of China, where people cannot often afford the luxury of owning iPads and iPhones, which start at 2,988 yuan ($474) and 3,988 yuan ($633) respectively.
