Rumor: Apple to Include a 4.6-inch Display in Next iPhone

With the launch of the new iPad out of the way, the rumor mill for the next-generation iPhone is beginning to heat up. First, we heard that the new iPhone could launch in Fall 2012 and is likely to receive the same LTE capabilities that the latest iPad has. And now, a South Korean newspaper by the name of Maeil Business Newspaper (via Reuters) claims that Apple’s next iPhone will sport a larger 4.6-inch Retina display and launch around the second quarter of 2012…

Quoting an unknown industry source, the newspaper reports that Apple has begun contacting suppliers to place orders for these larger displays. Samsung and LG Display, two of Apple’s primary display makers, refused to comment. Samsung uses a 4.6-inch display in its own Galaxy S II smartphone, and that handset has been one of the iPhone’s top competitors. All current iPhone models use a 3.5-inch display, including the iPhone 4S which debuted last October.
