Brief Bits: New iPad Runs 10 Degrees Hotter than iPad 2

Based on a infrared camera visualization by Tweakers.net, it has been discovered that Apple’s new iPad runs 10 degrees hotter than its predecessor. After a five minute GLBenchmark test, the new iPad was running at 33.6 degrees Celsius (92.5 Fahrenheit) while the iPad 2 was slightly cooler at 28.3 Celsius (82.9 Fahrenheit).

This isn’t a significant change in the tablet’s operating temperature, but it does confirm sporadic reports by users claiming their iPads had been running warmer than they were used to. At least it’s not as bad as what this guy experienced during a flight.
