iFixit Apple TV 3 Teardown

iFixit has done what they do best and cracked apart the new Apple TV 3 so you don’t have to. Inside, the set-top-box is nearly identical to its predecessor, but the new unit packs the extra punch—thanks to the A5 processor and 512 MB of RAM—to playback full 1080p without a hitch. The addition of an extra antenna should give the ATV better WiFi connectivity, and the 8GB of internal flash storage will be useful for storage once the device is jailbroken (XBMC, anyone?). iFixit gives the Apple TV a repairability score of 8/10 due to the ease of disassembly and use of standard tools, but they note that most of the components live directly on the logic board, which means that replacing parts will be relatively expensive since the whole board will need to be swapped.
