Brief Bits: Apple’s New iPad Can’t FaceTime Over 4G LTE

The Verge has discovered that Apple’s new iPad still lacks the ability to make FaceTime calls over a cellular data connection, at least in the United States, despite having compatibility with high-speed 4G LTE networks. The report claims that AT&T and Verizon are likely responsible for this restriction, not Apple…

Steve Jobs originally introduced FaceTime as a Wi-Fi only feature, claiming that Apple would work with cellular data providers to get the service “ready for the future.” But, for now, you’ll have to be near a Wi-Fi connection if you plan on using FaceTime.
