Verizon Looking to Double its LTE Network By Year’s End

Verizon Wireless currently has the largest 4G LTE network in the United States, and that is a trend that Big Red is looking to continue. On Wednesday, the carrier announced its plans to double the size of its LTE network to reach a total of 400 markets by the end of the year. Verizon’s high-speed LTE network currently covers 203 markets in the United States…

Its long-time rival AT&T, on the other hand, only offers LTE coverage in 28 different markets with plans to expand to an additional 12 markets in the next few months. In its announcement, Verizon also mentioned that it will only be launching LTE-capable handsets for the rest of the year. That means if a new iPhone launches on Verizon at some point this year, it’s going to be compatible with LTE as rumored.
