Metaclassy, the developer of popular distraction-free Markdown editor Byword for Mac, has brought their app’s full experience to iOS today. It includes complete iCloud and Dropbox sync support, though the former is acting a bit strange for some people, so there may be a bug there. Also, it’s worth noting that they will most likely be releasing an update to the Mac app soon with the addition of iCloud sync to make the two apps work fluidly together.
Beyond the aforementioned sync feature, Byword for iOS brings the same distraction-free writing experience to all iOS devices with such nifty aspects as exporting a document as HTML or PDF, automatic list creations with Markdown characters, a truly beautiful and clean design, and more. The app is available for $4.99 — just half the price of its Mac counterpart — in the App Store as a universal app, so go check it out today!
Update: It seems that there was a problem with the app and the developer has pulled it. The developer says that it won’t be back until the Mac app is updated with iCloud sync support so that everything works fine. It appears that the app was released prematurely.
