Apple Introduces New Apple TV with 1080p Playback

Apple has revamped the Apple TV with support for 1080p (the real stuff, not down sampled to 720p) and a “streamlined new user interface” that looks suspiciously like iOS. To complement this new ability, movies and television shows on iTunes will now be offered in glorious full HD, and iTunes in the Cloud has gained support for re-downloading movies to any device—including the ATV.

The updated set-top-box will be available March 16th and will retain its current $99 pricing.

This isn’t the Apple Television that we were hoping for, but the legal team at Cupertino is probably still securing content deals before the mythical set can be released to the masses. Until then, you’ll have to
