Yesterday, Best Buy had begun reducing prices of Apple’s iPad 2 by $50 in anticipation of the imminent iPad 3 release. Engadget today reports that an anonymous source has provided them with an image of the Best Buy iPad 2 inventory showing that the electronics store has tagged the product as “Deleted.” Best Buy is apparently removing iPad 2 stock from display on their stores’ shelves as the announcement of the iPad 3 nears. The image, which is available after the break, shows part of the inventory listing for an iPad 2 32 GB, though Engadget has been told that all iPad models have been tagged the same as this one.
It has been rumored that Apple will announce the iPad 3 on March 7th, which means that they will send out invites for the event this Wednesday. The iPad 3 is reported to have a quad-core CPU, Retina display, and LTE capability in its highlighted features.
