Apple Building Data Center in Prineville, Oregon

Apple has confirmed that they will be building a new data center in Prineville, Oregon. Their plans for the data center are unknown, but it’s likely that Apple will use the extra server horsepower for iCloud-based services like iTunes Match. The company may also need the resources to drive the rumored Apple Television, which is expected to stream content from iTunes. More and more Apple products are gaining cloud support, so we’re sure that this will be one of many new data centers to be built in the coming years.
