Photo Claims iPad 3 May Contain ‘A5X’ CPU

According to the photo above, spotted in a forum post at WeiPhone, Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 may utilize an “A5X” processor, as opposed to the rumored A6 system-on-a-chip. Apple’s processor naming scheme originated with the 1 GHz single-core A4 chip in the iPad, iPhone 4, and fourth-generation iPod touch, followed by the 1 GHz dual-core A5 processor in the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Based on the date code of the A5X processor, it is believed to be manufactured in the forty-sixth week of 2011, which translates to around November 14th to 20th. Also present on the logic board are two 16GB flash memory chips and an unidentified Apple-branded chip.
