iOS Hacker Stefan Esser Hints at iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Exploit

Infamous iOS hacker Stefan Esser (@i0n1c) has tweeted a series of messages on Twitter that, perhaps sarcastically, hint at an upcoming iOS 5.1 jailbreak exploit. Esser recommends that users download KakaoTalk Messenger version 2.8.8 before it is pulled from the App Store, teasing that it has nothing to do with a future exploitable vulnerability for jailbreaking…

@i0n1c: I recommend everybody downloads KakaoTalk Messenger version 2.8.8 now, before Apple removes it from the AppStore. Just saying… / @i0n1c: recommending you to download KakaoTalk Messenger 2.8.8 has nothing todo with an exploitable vulnerability that can be used for 5.1 jailbreak

Prominent jailbreak hacker @MuscleNerd did retweet the message, which could add to its validity, but there’s still the likelihood that Esser is just poking fun at the jailbreaking community. Nevertheless, iFans forum member xXrkidXx recommends that you make a backup of the IPA file just in case, which can be done by syncing with iTunes, right clicking on the IPA and opening the file in Finder or Show in Explorer. Be sure to make a copy of the IPA file in a new folder. Do you think Esser’s comments are legitimate?
