Legal Loop: Apple to Owe $2 Billion Over ‘iPad’ Name in China?

Chinese company Proview Technology, holder of the ‘iPad’ trademark in China, has allegedly threatened to sue Apple for $2 billion in a U.S. court for using the iPad name in the Asian country. Proview Technology is currently in debt, so it could be suggested that the company is trying to piggyback off the wealthiness of Apple in order to pay off what it owes. Proview chief executive Yang Rongshan has denied these claims, however, stating that his company owns the iPad trademark and is merely trying to protect its rights.
