UPDATE: MacRumors Editor-in-Chief Eric Slivka states that this is indeed Setup Assistant, a framework that has been in Mac OS X for many years.
Long-time iFans member VirtualBall stopped by today to point out an interesting new addition to OS X’s list of private frameworks. He wrote:
In 10.8, there’s a new PrivateFramework called Assistant.framework. Assistant, as most may know, was the code name for Siri! I’ve strings’d the binary but there doesn’t seem to be anything of real interest. Also, some might say this is for Setup Assistant, but I hex dumped that binary and it doesn’t call Assistant.framework.
What do you think? Have you found any other evidence that corroborates or contradicts these findings?
