Legal Loop: Apple Wins Injunction Against Motorola in Germany

A regional court in Munich, Germany yesterday awarded Apple a permanent injunction against several products offered by Motorola Mobility, based on a ruling that those devices infringe upon the Cupertino-based company’s patented slide-to-unlock gesture on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

According to FOSS Patents, the court decision allows for Apple to enforce a ban on the infringing Motorola products effective immediately, but only if it is willing to allocate bond money to account for Motorola’s revenue losses in the event that the injunction is overturned by a higher court in Germany. Motorola is reportedly preparing to appeal this court ruling.
