Earlier today, Rene Ritchie from iMore reported that Apple will unveil the iPad 3 on March 7th; hours later, Jim Dalrymple of The Loop, who has a proven track record regarding Apple rumors, confirmed the launch date. Ritchie suggested that the iPad 3 will have a quad-core processor, high-resolution Retina Display, and LTE capability. While some have been skeptical of these purported features, the Wall Street Journal is now backing up the idea of an iPad with LTE…

According to their sources, both Verizon and AT&T will offer LTE-capable iPads. It’s unknown, however, if Sprint or T-Mobile will join in on the 4G action. Apple is known to be cautious when implementing new technology into their products; the transition from 2G to 3G on the iPhone was relatively slow compared to the competition, and the company has yet to release a 4G device despite the fact that most Android devices come standard with LTE or WiMAX capability.
