AllThingsD: iPad 3 Event Set for First Week in March

According to John Paczkowski for AllThingsD, Apple will launch the iPad 3 at a media event during the first week in March. The announcement will likely take place at one of Apple’s traditional venues for these type of launches, such as the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts or Moscone Center in San Francisco…

Paczkowski suggests that retail availability should be similar to the iPad 2, which means the iPad 3 should be available for purchase about a week or so following its unveiling. The iPad 3 is rumored to have a similar design to the iPad 2 with a faster processor, better graphics, and a Retina Display in the area of 2048×1536 pixels.

AllThingsD has a proven track record when it comes to Apple rumors and speculation, especially considering that it accurately pinpointed the launch of the iPhone 4S last October. The big question is, will 2012 be the year of the iPad 3?
