Avid has released an iPad-optimized version of their professional video editing software, which has been used for many feature films, including The Dark Knight, Ironman, and more. The app offers quite a few features that are not available on Apple’s mobile iMovie app, such as multi-layer compositions and frame accurate trimming, and at just $4.99, is the same price as Cupertino’s editor.
The early reviews suggest that owners of the original iPad should steer clear since it doesn’t have the horsepower to render content without crashing, but iPad 2 users with a love for home movies should definitely give Avid a try and let us know how it compares to iMovie.
