When booting an iOS device for the first time after installing a fresh copy of iOS 5, the default Apple boot logo has an animated glare to it. It appears to be a one-time deal, however, as any subsequent boots of the iOS device display the regular Apple logo minus the animated effect. That led iFans forum member Appman to create “AppleFlare,” which will allow for you to have the glared Apple boot logo on your iPhone or iPod touch at all times. Info on downloading and setting up this custom boot logo is just ahead…
AppleFlare isn’t on Cydia yet, so downloading the custom boot logo involves the following manual process on jailbroken iOS devices:
- Download the custom boot logo.
- Install “Animate” from Cydia, which can be found for free from the BigBoss repository.
- Install iH8sn0w’s “Animate Fix for iOS,” which makes Animate compatible with iOS 5, from the ModMyI repository.
- Activate the boot logo in Settings > BootLogo > Extras.
