iOS hackers Yiduo David Wang (@planetbeing) and @pod2g have both posted pictures of the iPad 2 with evidence of an untethered jailbreak. Pod2g teased the jailbreaking community by showing off his iPad 2 running Cydia on iOS 5.0.1, while planetbeing proved that he was able to run IntelliScreenX, a jailbreak tweak that only works on iOS 5 and above, on his jailbroken iPad 2. Earlier this week, a similar video teaser of the iPhone 4S untethered jailbreak surfaced.
Both hackers are members of the jailbreak “dream team” that is working feverishly on an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1. Apple has patched this exploit in iOS 5.1, so it’s important that iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users who plan on jailbreaking update to iOS 5.0.1 before Apple stops signing the version. The latest word from the “dream team” suggests that this jailbreak could be released in a few days or less, joining older devices that received the same iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak in December.
