A few months ago, the Chronic Dev Team released its “method of mass exploitation,” a tool that collects crash reports from iOS devices and sends them to the jailbreaking team to aid in discovering future jailbreak vulnerabilities.
The tool is currently available for Macs and Windows, but developer Luke Young has ported it to iOS with a jailbreak tweak called CDevReporter. The tweak, which runs as a background daemon, is compatible with all iOS devices and can be downloaded for free from Cydia under the BigBoss repository.
iOS hacker and Chronic Dev Team leader Joshua Hill (p0sixninja) recently tweeted that the desktop variant of CDevReporter has already collected over 10,000,000 crash reports from users. By collecting these crash reports, the Chronic Dev Team can pinpoint the most vulnerable areas of iOS more easily.
