Report: Sharp No Longer Producing Displays for iPad 3

Korea’s Electronic Times Internet News claims that Sharp is out of the running to produce iPad 3 displays, and that Apple has chosen Samsung and LG to take point creating the panels. The higher-ups at Cupertino are keeping the next-generation tablet under tight wraps, but it is expected to be released as soon as March of this year. There are few details about what kind of hardware the device will house, but some rumors suggest that Apple will be releasing an iPad “Pro” with more RAM, a faster processor, and a Retina display for more power hungry users. It’s more likely that the upcoming tablet will be an interim upgrade, like the iPhone -S, to hold over users until a major upgrade later in 2012.
