According to the Japanese blog Macotakara, the “iPad 2S” is already in production for an upcoming launch this March. The report claims that Foxconn is responsible for supplying 85% of the tablet’s parts, while Pegatron will be supplying the additional fifteen percent of third-generation iPad components.
Macotakara notes that cases contoured to fit the iPad 2 will not work with this new iPad model, but Apple’s Smart Cover will continue to work despite claims that the location of the magnets will be changed in the next iPad. Furthermore, it is suggested that the iPad will continue to use a 30-pin dock connector and have the same positioning for its physical buttons. As mentioned by MacRumors, it is important to remember that this Japanese publication has a hit-and-miss record when it comes to reporting on Apple rumors.
