The jailbreak “dream team,” consisting of iOS hackers Yiduo Wang (@planetbeing), Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja), and @MuscleNerd, have made further progress towards an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.
The dream team, assembled by pod2g last week, has managed to “escape the sandbox,” which is a crucial step towards an untethered jailbreak for A5-equipped devices. It’s safe to assume that it won’t be too long until the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 receive the same iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak treatment that other iOS devices were gifted with last December.
Just over a week ago, it was pod2g who had suggested that the jailbreak could have been ready in about a week—which is just about today—with some luck; however, I am sure that the jailbreak community won’t mind waiting a few more days for the “dream team” to finalize their progress. Even developers have to wait, as pod2g stated in a second Twitter post that he does not want to reveal the jailbreak vulnerability to the public until it is officially released. There’s still no ETA, but you can sense the closeness of this jailbreak!
