iOS Apps (Unofficially) Coming to the Big Screen

TheMudkip has rewritten Springboard from scratch for the Apple TV, which will allow users to run potentially any iOS app on the $99 set-top-box. The hack is still in the early alpha stages, but Steve Troughton Smith has tweeted an image of his Lights Out application working on an ATV, and has mentioned that both and the App Store are running.

Controlling apps using an iPhone or iPad could lead to some very exciting possibilities like split-screen multiplayer games or full screen Angry Birds, and apps optimized for the TV may make their way into Cydia. There is no ETA on when the hack will made public, so stay tuned for updates!
