3.7 Million Android Devices Activated Over Christmas

According to the barren Twitter feed of Andy Rubin, the creator of Android, Google activated 3.7 million Android devices over the course of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Rubin mentioned on Plus earlier this month that the average number of daily activations is 700,000.

As expected, both companies saw a huge increase of activations over the holidays, although, the numbers suggest that Cupertino may have beat Mountain View by around half a million. The activations data from Apple includes the iPad, iPhone, and Touch, but on Google’s end of the spectrum, the sales of Kindle Fire are not accounted for due to the heavily modified version of Android it runs.
