According to Boy Genius Report, the next-generation iPhone will launch in the Fall of 2012 with a completely redesigned appearance. Before you get too excited, recall that BGR suggested a completely redesigned iPhone 5 would be released in August; instead, the iPhone 4S was released in October with the same design as its predecessor, the iPhone 4.
Nonetheless, the report claims that Apple is planning to use a rubber material around the bezel of the iPhone, joining the front of the handset with its brand new aluminum backing. Furthermore, the new iPhone will have a redesigned antenna system that will allow for Apple to avoid using a large plastic insert that is found on other iOS devices such as 3G iPad models and older iPod touch units. A few months ago, iLounge also suggested that Apple would launch a metal-backed iPhone with a 4-inch display in 2012.
