Intel Launching Thunderbolt for PCs in April 2012

According to DigiTimes, and as expected, Intel’s high-speed Thunderbolt I/O technology will begin to be implemented by PC vendors in April 2012. It is noted that several different major PC manufacturers have been preparing to launch Thunderbolt-supported motherboards, desktops, and notebooks.

Thunderbolt technology is fast enough to transfer full-length HD movies in under 30 seconds; these lightning fast ports are currently found on all current model Macs, ranging from the MacBook Pro to iMac.

To speed up the standardization of Thunderbolt, Intel is cooperating with Apple and Apple is the sole vendor currently to have PC products featuring Thunderbolt technology. As demand for the technology has seen obvious growth, Intel is ready to release the technology for public use.
