According to analyst Rich Gardner for Citigroup, a financial services company, the third-generation iPad will be launching next February with a brand new, high resolution Retina Display. Gardner cites “several sources” behind his claims. Rumors from analysts, however, do often turn out to be partially or completely wrong.
Gardner also projected that Apple can expect to sell between 12 to 13 million iPads in the fiscal quarter that begins on Dec 31, 2011. An iPad with a Retina Display would have twice the resolution of the iPad 2.
“There do not appear to be any significant technical hurdles remaining,” said Gardner, regarding Apple’s ability to launch a high-resolution iPad.
