Sorry iPhone, Samsung’s Galaxy S II is Phone of the Year

Despite having a very successful launch, the iPhone 4S was outpaced by Samsung’s Galaxy S II as the phone of the year according to Pocket-Lint. The popular electronics publication listed the Samsung smartphone as its best phone for 2011; however, their awards show for ’2011′ is actually a twelve-month period spanning from December 1, 2010 to today.

The results consist of a judging panel and public voting. The other four smartphones that round out the top five are, in unspecified order, the iPhone 4S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, HTC Sensation, and Nokia Lumia 800. Apple products did claim three other number one spots including product of the year (iPad 2), tablet of the year (iPad 2), and laptop of the year (MacBook Air 13″).
