Test Out Windows Phone 7.5 on Your iOS Device

Wouldn’t it be nice to try out a mobile operating system before you switched to it? This is assuming, of course, that you have a mobile device to test it on. Well, Microsoft aims to gather a few new users with their Windows Phone 7.5 demo that they just released. The HTML5 web page allows Android and iOS users to experience most of Microsoft’s beautiful mobile OS right on their current devices.

The demo includes almost every major feature within Windows Phone 7.5 and offers a walkthrough on all of them. However, in my testing I couldn’t seem to get the apps menu to work, but this could be because I’m on an iPad, which isn’t technically a smartphone. If you’re seeking this demo that I’ve talked about for the last two paragraphs, then head over to the official demo page at http://aka.ms/wpdemo on your mobile device.

In any case, the demo is very well built and definitely gives potential users a taste of what could be their next phone. Who knows, Microsoft may actually gain a few users off this move. Something like this would be immensely helpful to Apple or Google, too. They could even offer demos on the user’s PC, letting him utilize his trackpad or mouse in place of a touchscreen. This is merely one example of how OS demos could benefit their developers. There are many more possibilities, and even the developers of Ubuntu had a great thought in mind when they introduced a way to try out their OS on any Windows PC.
