Microsoft to Compete with Apple TV, Make Couch Potatoes Work for their Entertainment

The Daily reports that Microsoft is looking to integrate Kinect into television sets in order to compete with the (admittedly uncompetitive) Google TV platform and the rumored Apple television. Kinect responds to motion input using a series of cameras, so we’re sure that arcade-type games will baked into TVs that feature the device, but the Kinect is also great at recognizing faces—making it possible to “remember” who you are and load preferences based on your settings. Over the last few years, TV have slowly been catching up with the 21st century, and many new sets have built-in internet support and connected features.
