In a press event held today in New York City, Barnes & Noble officially unveiled their new Nook Tablet, available for preorder on the Nook website and at Barnes & Noble retail stores. While the Nook Tablet might appear to be nearly identical to its Nook Color sibling on the outside, this tablet is quite different on the inside, packing a 1 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM.
The Nook Tablet features a portable 7-inch screen, vivid display, a large collection of content for children, and entertainment services like Netflix, Hulu Plus and Pandora. The tablet, which retails for $249, is expected to be available in stores by late next week. The Nook Tablet’s main competitor will be Amazon’s Kindle Fire, which retails for $50 less, rather than Apple’s iPad.
