Android Market Breaks the 500,000 App Barrier

The Android Market has reached over 500,000 successfully submitted applications—impressively close to the App Store’s 600,000. But, due to Google’s lax submission guidelines, 37% of applications are removed after the fact (compared to just 24% in the App Store).

However if we look deeper, Android developers are significantly more productive than Apple’s. We’ve noticed that the average publisher on Android has placed more than 6 applications in the Market since launch, compared to just over 4 apps on average that have been published by iOS developers

Congrats, Android!
