AT&T has announced that, as of Tuesday, the U.S.’s largest carrier has activated more than one million iPhone 4S handsets on its network. These activation numbers make it the most successful iPhone launch in the company’s history. AT&T has been carrying the iPhone for over four years, but now has newfound competition in Verizon and Sprint. Apple first released an iPhone for use on Verizon’s network in early 2011, while Sprint is new to the iPhone scene with the launch of the iPhone 4S. AT&T notes that its speed advantage has attracted customers to choose its network over its competitors.
“It’s no surprise that customers are clamoring for iPhone 4S and they want it to run on a network that lets them download twice as fast as competitors’,” said Ralph de la Vega, President and CEO, AT&T Mobility & Consumer Markets.
