Steve Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011 after battling pancreatic cancer for several years. While dealing with his health issues, Jobs took multiple medical leave of absences from the company that he co-founded, until he announced his resignation this past August because his daily responsibilities as chief executive at Apple could no longer be met. Nonetheless, Jobs continued to work on Apple’s “next product” until just the day before his death. Softbank’s chief executive Masayoshi Son shared how his meeting with Apple’s new CEO Tim Cook on Oct 4th was cut short due to an incoming call that Cook received; the call was from Steve Jobs, who wanted to discuss his plans about Apple’s next product. The next day, Steve Jobs died. Truly remarkable.
